“From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother.”
Henry V
William Shakespeare

“Men, it's been a long war, it's been a tough war. You've fought bravely, proudly for your country. You're a special group. You've found in one another a bond that exists only in combat, among brothers. You've shared foxholes, held each other in dire moments. You've seen death and suffered together. I'm proud to have served with each and every one of you. You all deserve long and happy lives in peace."
Band of Brothers, “Points”

“Lord grant that I shall never seek so much to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, or to be loved as to love, with all my heart." - Eugene Roe, Prayer of Saint Francis

-Gently kisses his cheek-

You don’t need to sing if you can’t. You can write, yes? A letter, perhaps? It’s slightly more permanent than a song. And should I ever find myself doubting, I could always reread them again and again.

-reassured smile- [softer tone] Won’t be a problem. -leans forward and brushes his lips upon her cheek-

mandokar-alorade:

That’s a litt flashy, even for me.

-Chuckles-

I would say I would be looking forward to it, but it’s not a surprise if I’m expecting it, now is it?

-wears a questionable look and pretends to be in thought- Things don’t have to be the way you expect. -looks up- A song to serenade you in, miss? Every word is spoken clearly no matter how fast or falsetto. -purses lips- I can’t sing for my life

mandokar-alorade:

Yes.

-Nods, then gives a sly smile-

Do I smell a surprise?

-pulls hat over her eyes and lightly chuckles- Like a magnificent crescendo-building tossing of firecrackers? I have plenty of time on my hands. [deep sigh] We’ll see what happens.

mandokar-alorade:

Plumeria are hard to find out here though— I think they’re tropical plants.

They make me think of the beach, which I like to think as my home away from home.

Surfing and cliff diving, right? I would imagination you have a liking for beaches. -removes hat and ruffles hair- I don’t know much about flowers but I thought it’d be nice to know that sort of information. -half-smile-

mandokar-alorade:

-Strokes his cheek in a reassuring way-

No, I was not harmed. The whole plan was to blend in, not draw attention. Infiltrate the compound, blend in and take down my target and slip out. I pretended to be the good, obedient dancing girl. Nothing worse than grab, I assure you.

-Hand slips away, lowering her voice to reply-

The galaxy back home is sorted into three territories: The Core, The Mid Rim and the Outer Rim. The Core and most of the Mid Rim is controlled by the Republic, the Outer Rim is kind of lawless territories and a few autonomous systems like my home. Anything goes out there, slaves, drugs, black market weapons…You will never never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

I don’t understand… -tries to swallow down welling emotions and relaxes from her touch- -takes one step closer to her as she draws her hand away- [whispers] You’re from a land of savagery? Is that it? I don’t understand why you had to be brought up in that sort of place. -catches her hand before she finishes- [tone lowers more] You’re here to stay? Are they looking for you? Are you… safe here?

mandokar-alorade:

To be groped and harassed but the scum of the galaxy and not snap and strangle them.

Some dancers are there on their own free will, or do it for the creds, but most are slaves. Out where I’m from, the Outer Rim, slavery is still legal practice. I had to spend a week or so like them, it gives you a new perspective on things.

Excuse me? -straightens out in a tense position- What? What gives them the right to do that? Unsavory and repulsive. Those cretins are a just a gathering of mongrels and it is only a matter of time until they are given what they deserve. I can’t even begin to wrap my mind around that absurd practice. -eyes widen behind aviators- You had to? Wh- -thinks over for a few seconds- Were you harmed in any way? You’re better off here… I certainly wouldn’t have you anywhere else. -slowly walks over to her and looks down- [lower tonehe sounds like he’s being careful] What is this Outer Ring?

mandokar-alorade:

Quite. I’ll have to share you that story sometime.

-Dust off imaginary dust off the front-

I’ve got a whole lot more respect and sympathy for those ladies.

I’m sure it’ll be a story to remember. But of course, much of what you have to say is memorable as it is. -eyes her- Respect and sympathy for them? Why may that be? -lifts head up and folds arms in curiosity-

mandokar-alorade:

It’s a dancing outfit I had from one job. Problem, fellas?

-Troll grin-

Problem? My, my, whatever makes you suggest such a thing? -cocks his head to one side-
In any case, I’m sure that job must have been quite the experience. Fortunate. -sits back comfortably and pulls his hat down to cover his widening smile-
